What is the Ashley Chorale?

The "Ashley Chorale" is a new chamber choir (currently ten voices) formed in early 2007, meeting in and around Chesham and Amersham, Bucks.

It was started as an experiment to let singers from larger groups, such as choral societies, experience singing with just one or two voices to a part instead of being just one voice lost amid so many others.

The idea was to run just a couple of sessions, have a bit of fun, and then see what happened.

From the very first meeting in January 2007 it was obvious to all that the voices blended, were evenly balanced, and that the sound was just "
right".

It was a great mix and we seemed to get on well too, so with such a start it was agreed to continue throughout 2007.

Now we are into 2008, and have met seven times since we started. Still having a great time and looking for our first engagement. Want to try us?

Where do we come from?

The singers are drawn from Premier choirs in the South Bucks area - Gaudeamus, The Consort, Berkhamsted and Chorleywood Choral Societies, The Wooburn Singers and others.

Entry is by invitation only - there is no audition!!

When numbers are a bit low through holidays or sickness we are privileged to be able to call on other singers (some professional) to help us out, and who are happy to be "
in the wings" should we need them. That means we can meet on a regular basis, every 4-6 weeks, with a full complement.

Once we get established we think we may host an
"Open Day" to tempt other singers who might like to experience singing with just a few voices to each part. Depends on interest. Anyone interested should be able to sight sing fairly easily, and already have some choral singing experience.
